Jonathan reports that "Jackie joined us and cantored. First Sunday of Lent, very strong community presence despite the weather. Jim and I started the wrong song completely for communion, we started chatting with someone about joining us on piano. Maggie was refreshing ['Open the Eyes of My Heart'] a bit after mass."
We have a prelude scheduled for this week, Paul Baloche's 'Open the Eyes of My Heart'. We initially worked on this at the end of January, but haven't done too much with it lately due to our erratic schedule. One thing we discussed changing but didn't finalize was extending the last section to include Jim's descant and allow for a slower buildup -- beyond that, let's plan to do the song as rehearsed. I'd like to make pulling this together first priority on Saturday, so so please review your parts and be ready for a run-through at 4:30.
We have a new Psalm this week, GC 109. If interested in cantoring it, please let me know. The refrain is fairly straight-forward, but the verses are a bit tricky with multiple sharps and three totally different melodies.
There are RCIA Rite of Dismissals on the board for both this week and next.
There will be practice after mass from 6:30-8:00 PM. In addition to reviewing the music for March, I'd like to take a look at Mass of Remembrance and clean that up as needed.
