Songs & Updates for Saturday, March 14, 2015

This Saturday is the Forth Sunday of Lent.

Despite another rushed rehearsal, we made it through mass without any major problems. We spent the first half of practice working out some issues with the sound system. We had a visiting priest, and Chip and Barry covered guitar in Jim and Jonathan's absence. Probably our biggest challenges were intros and communication. Huge thanks to everyone involved!

Father Charlie is out again, so we should have the same visiting priest.

If you'd be interested in cantoring the Penitential Rite, Psalm (GC 27), or Lenten Gospel Acclamation, please let me know.

For 'Deep Within', let's plan to use the entire refrain as the intro and not just the first half -- there was a bit of a miscommunication on this. Also, it would be good to start this song at the beginning of Communion rather than waiting until everyone gets back from receiving. With the number of ministers and stations we had last week, it didn't leave a lot of time to do much with this song. In fact, it might make since to do this from now on.

There will be dinner and practice after mass from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. I'd like to work through our prelude for the 21st, a medley of 'Tree of Life' (GC 397) and 'Adoramus Te Christe' (GC 396). The plan is to follow this arrangement, but with a few tweaks to the tempo, instrumentation, etc.. If you haven't already, please let me know of your availability to stick around. Thanks!

UPDATE (3/10): Jim was contacted by a guitarist, Tom, who is interested in joining our group. Jim filled him in on our practice schedule and he's planning to be at mass this weekend. We're looking forward to having Tom onboard!
