We had a nice-sized crew last week and mass went pretty well -- I think we're finally back on track after a bit of a messy past few months. Nice job, all!
After mass, we had a bite to eat (thanks Lisa!) and worked on a prelude scheduled for this week. The song is a medley of 'Tree of Life' and 'Adoramus Te Christe'. If you're not familiar with these tunes, please look them over before Saturday. The plan can be found here.
We also briefly looked at the Psalm for this week and cleaned up a few of the mass parts with Cindy.
For 'Dust and Ashes', just a quick reminder that the interlude between verses essentially repeats twice, so be careful not to come in too early.
Since Father Charlie is back this week, we will no longer need a cantor for the Penitential Rite. However, we'll still need a cantor for the Lenten Gospel Acclamation.
Our Communion song for this week and next is 'Unless a Grain of Wheat'. It's somewhat fast-paced and 'wordy', so if you're not familiar with this one, please look it over (we've only ever done this one once before).
I'm planning to select music for April this week and get that sent off to the Office for approval. I won't pick for Holy Week, though, until I know who's covering which masses and what Father has in mind.
There will be practice after mass from 6:30-8:30 PM. Jonathan is covering dinner. Please let me know if you're able to stick around.

UPDATE (3/17): the Office let me know of a Holy Week planning meeting behind held next Monday. Once I know what the plan is, I'll select music for the Triduum masses we're covering (traditionally, 2 PM Good Friday and 9 AM Easter Sunday) and we can go from there.
UPDATE (3/20): The Music for April has been sent to the Office for approval.
UPDATE (3/20): The plan for practice tomorrow is to start working on a prelude for the end of April, 'Increase Our Faith'. This is a song Ginny found quite a few months ago -- we've experimented with it a few times (most recently, back in October), but have never actually used it for a mass. What we came up with then seems to be a pretty solid arrangement, so I think we'll go with that and see what can be improved upon over the next few weeks.
I'd also like to look at a few songs for next week, which is Palm Sunday.
