This Saturday is Trinity Sunday.
We had several instrumentalists out last week, but most of the songs went pretty well. Huge thanks to everyone who was able to make it!
Since it was a holiday weekend, we did not practice, but a few of us did stay to visit/help out with the Time and Talent Fair in the Parish Hall. As far as I know, we weren't able to recruit any new people, but we may want to try again this week.
With Pentecost behind us, we're back to using a different Psalm each week. If anyone is interested in cantoring 'Let Your Mercy Be On Us' (note we'll be using Refrain III), please let me know.
Also, the music for June still needs to be approved, but I've tentatively selected 'Look Beyond' as our new monthly Communion song. The book only has melody, but this piece has some cool harmony lines that would be fun to play with if we end up doing it beyond this week. Please look it over if unfamiliar.
Finally, as many of you know, we've been a bit thin on guitar for the past several weeks. Jim has been tied up with some commitments, and won't be back for several more weeks. Tom will also be out for the next couple of weeks. And I just learned that Jonathan is significantly scaling back his involvement with the Music Ministry, effective immediately, and will only be at 5:30 mass on a very limited basis from now on.
This is a bit of a surprise and will definitely pose some challenges, but we'll work through it. I'd prefer not to go into the details here, but we should definitely discuss how we want to approach things going forward. My original thought was to get in some practice time this week, but sorting out this situation is a bigger priority at the moment. We can run a few songs afterward if anyone's still up for it.
Tom, Jim, Karina and Lisa K. are out this week.

UPDATE (5/28): Father Charlie approved our music for June with several changes.
I also learned that we'll continue using Mass of Remembrance through next weekend, before switching to one of the other Settings (TBD).
Finally, he also once again asked that we make sure to come in on the Mass Parts as soon as he's done with the spoken portion. In other words, he'd like the delay in coming in to be as minimal as possible.
