Songs & Updates for Saturday, September 27, 2014

This Saturday is the 26th Sunday in Ordinary Time.

Despite the craziness before mass last week, nice job all! It's looking like 'Canticle of the Turning' is one to do again at some point :-)


Before mass and rehearsal, Jonathan and I met to discuss music selections for the next few weeks as well as other Choir affairs. One thing we hope to work on in the coming weeks is better communication during mass to help eliminate issues such as weak entrances and confusion over how songs are arranged. This will likely be in the form of more conducting during mass and better planned rehearsals to go over materials.

The songs for this week and next were sent to the Office, pending approval by Father, and were approved (with a few minor changes) on 9/24. I'm hoping to get back into the routine of picking songs for a month at a time starting in October.

After mass, Jonathan, Lisa K., Maggie, and I worked on the songs for this week.

For 'Pan de Vida' / 'Lord, When You Came', I'll be making some changes to the draft score we used last week, including expanding the instrumental intro to cover going up to receive, removing the proposed solo first refrain/repeat, adding 'Lord, When You Came' to the end, and fixing various technical issues.

Ginny, Joe, George and Barry are out this week.

There will be practice after mass from 7-8 PM.
