We got permission from the Office last week to see if we sort out the issues with the Parish Hall sound system. Barry and Joe took a peek and were able to make some headway, but haven't nailed down the root problem yet.
The music for October has been sent to the Office for approval. If there are any changes to this week's program (or for the rest of the month), I'll let you know. In case you missed the email, the selections can also be found here. Please note that we have a double Baptism the last Saturday of the month; I've also listed the cantors for each Saturday for reference.
We last did 'Servant Song' a few months ago. Once again, I'd like to keep this simple and do it largely as an a capella piece, with melodic instruments being introduced in the second half. Definitely check out the recording below for a sense of how it should sound. One change I would suggest is to eliminate the pause between the last two phrases of the verse -- this ended up being a bit awkward and didn't flow well. I'd instead like to make this one continuous phrase.
'Lord, When You Came' will be our Communion song for October. This piece is a bit on the slow side, but offers plenty of opportunities to add in harmony and other fun elements. It's also in Spirit & Song, but that version uses a different translation of the Spanish text. I'm thinking this would work well using a similar approach to what we did for 'We Come Today', with a couple of voices and instrumentalists staying behind to get it started, and everyone else joining in later.
UPDATE: 09/28: Jim, Jonathan and Maggie will be out this week due to an unplanned Group Therapy band gig. Barry will also be out.
