Songs & Updates for Saturday, February 18, 2017

This Saturday is the 7th Sunday in Ordinary Time.
Happy Valentines Day!

From the sounds of it, you guys had a small crew last week, but everything went pretty smoothly. Special thanks to Jim and Eva for heading things up.

I haven't heard anything on the music for February, so I'm assuming it's fine as-is at this point. The music for March has been drafted. I'll get that sent into the Office in the next week or so.

As far as our Lent rehearsal on Friday, 02/17 (6:30-8:45 PM, Church), I'd like to take a look at the following:
  • Storrington Mass - Penitential Rite
  • Storrington Mass - Lenten Gospel Acclamation
  • Storrington Mass - Holy, Holy, Holy
  • Storrington Mass - Save Us, Savior (Mem. Acc. C)
  • Storrington Mass - Doxology/Amen
  • Storrington Mass - Lamb of God
  • GC3 #482 - The Cross of Jesus

  • Storrington Mass - Glory to God (if time)
  • Storrington Mass - Gospel Acclamation (if time)
  • SS #151 - Come to the Lord (review, if time)

I'm most concerned with nailing down the melody lines on these pieces, but if we have time and folks are up for it, we could sort out the other voice parts as well. II'll be at the Church around 6 PM that night, so feel free to arrive any time after that.

For Where Charity and Love Prevail, a reminder that this will be done largely a capella, with minimal instrumentation. We can slowly build it up in the second half with additional instrumental/voice parts.

In the past, we've done We Will Serve the Lord at a pretty fast clip. I'm thinking we might want to take it a bit slower this go around. I'm not sure how the piano part will play into this since we've never used it before.

There's also the matter of whether we should follow the t4C arrangement, or what's in the book. The order of the text is the same for both; the main difference is how the interludes/transitions between verses are handled. Either way, this is one we can have some fun with -- let's just be careful not to go overboard :-)
