Songs & Updates for Saturday, January 27, 2018

This Saturday is the 4th Sunday in Ordinary Time.
Thanks for another successful Mass last Saturday! I especially liked how well the Psalm (here) and Closing song (here) turned out. For the latter, the change in tempo during verse three was a fun addition and seemed to work well.

Yesterday, the Maund Family made a generous financial donation to the Parish in Cindy's memory. The money is to be used 'for the needs of the choir'. This will likely go towards purchasing additional music stand(s), which will definitely come in handy for Christmas, Easter, and other special occasions. As you know, Cindy played piano; her daughter Laura is also a skilled violinist, and played with the Music Ministry for quite a few years.

It looks like I have a typo in the selections for this week. Our Offertory song, Blest Are They, is on page #735, not #522 (sorry, not sure where that other number came from...).

I hope you're all able to stick around after Mass for a bite to eat! It should be a good time with food, socializing and a bit of planning for the year. In case you missed it, the food signup is here. We may need to get creative as far as where we eat, though. My understanding is the Out of the Cold folks will be using the kitchenette, Warehouse and other spaces.

A planning meeting for Lent has been scheduled for this Sunday, 01/28. I'll pass along notes on what's happening sometime next week. I'm also holding off on sending out the music for February until after the meeting. Stay tuned.

I'm going to be out next Saturday, 02/03, but should be back the following week. Let's make sure we're good on coverage for that weekend.

UPDATE: 01/25: If you're planning to stick around for dinner, we'll meet in the Christ the Servant conference room (to the right as you enter the Parish Hall). We have the room from 3:30-8:30 PM, so feel free to use it as a staging area. Outlets should be available for crock pots, etc.. I'll probably be there a bit early to get everything set up.
