Mass went pretty smoothly last week -- it was nice to have a full guitar section after being a bit 'lean' for the past few weeks. Jonathan joined us and we co-directed mass since I was also playing sax. Jim made an excellent call for volunteer musicians, but I don't believe we got any hits.
Both of the new pieces, 'We Proclaim Your Death' from Mass of Creation, and 'Seed, Scattered and Sown', didn't take much extra prep time and came together fairly nicely. It sounds like 'Seed' was well-liked and worth doing again, so I may program that as the Communion song next month.
After mass, Jim, Jonathan, Maggie, Ginny, Father Charlie and I discussed our current situation over dinner.
In a nutshell, as far as our immediate problems are concerned, we need to bring onboard a pianist. This would solve many of the instrument coverage issues, as long as we can find someone who is is able to be here regularly. Several of us are going to reach out to potential individuals/groups both inside and outside the Parish to see if we can find someone. At this point, the Parish is in a bit of a financial situation, so hiring someone isn't an option unless we finance it ourselves. Thanks for all the input, and let's have a brief follow-up meeting this week after mass and see where we are with this.
Our Psalm this week is once again 'The Lord is Kind and Merciful'. If anyone is interested in cantoring this, please let me know.
Father mentioned last week that we might have a visiting missionary priest this week. We where supposed to have one last weekend, but he unfortunately got sick and wasn't able to make it.
As far as rehearsals go, let's plan to operate on a summer schedule starting this week and only stick around to practice as needed. Looking ahead to next Saturday, we have a new psalm and a less-familiar Gathering song, so it may be worth taking a few minutes to look at both of those.

UPDATE (6/18): [email from Luke] Greetings!, I know it is short notice but that was the point- Deacon Mike is hosting a bonfire sing along tomorrow, Friday (the 19th) at 8pm. You can bring something to share or not, and bring an instrument if you have one.
We've been wanting to do this for a while, but there has been a persistent threat of rain for weeks on end it seems.
Please feel free to share with others who may be able to come.
If you aren't aware, he lives on Kradel Ln, all the way back.
Feel free to message me for any other details or questions.
He has been looking forward to another sing along since the gathering to sing carols at his home last December which he says was a so moving to him and Nancy.
Cheers,
Luke
