Songs & Updates for Saturday, August 15, 2015

This Saturday is the 20th Sunday of Ordinary Time.

The Feast of the Assumption of Mary also falls on Saturday this year.

Mass went pretty smoothly last week with quite a few strong pieces. Thanks as always to everyone who was able to make it!

The sound system was working, but we used a different sound profile since the one for our group didn't appear on the list.

Father Charlie approved our August music last Friday with a few minor changes. Notably, for the 15th and 22nd, he wanted the Communion song, 'Bread of Life', swapped out for something that has a 'refrain that repeats'. He also asked that I change the Closing songs for both those weeks. I'm waiting on final approval of the 'replacement songs' I sent in earlier this week and will put out all the selections after that.

UPDATE (8/15): Barb just got back to me on this after being on vacation all week. We'll be using the revised songs I selected.

The new Communion song I'm proposing is 'I Am the Bread of Life'. My original plan was to hold off on doing this until things normalized again in the Fall, but I think we can pull it off with the people we have available now. Please take a look at the recordings below to get a sense of how we arranged this piece last time.

Finally, Lisa K. suggested that we might want to get together after mass at some point to go through the new Diocesan and State clearance paperwork and requirements for volunteers. I already put out an email on this, but please let me know if that's something you'd be interested in doing either this weekend or next.
