Songs & Updates for Saturday, April 30, 2016

This Saturday is the 6th Sunday of Easter.

I was working on a Musical last week and wasn't at Mass, so I don't have much in the way of updates. Jim reported that everything went well, though. Thanks to Jim and Maggie for running things!

Jim noted that Eva approached him about the possibility of playing piano with us this summer. Eva currently sings with Barb's group, and as some of you may remember, worked with us very briefly a few years ago. Will let you know when I hear more.

The music for May has been sent to the Office for approval (a week earlier than usual :-). There are several new(-ish) Psalms that we should probably spend some extra time working on. These include GC #053, God Mounts His Throne (for Mass on 5/7) and GC #029, How Glorious is Your Name (for Mass on 5/21). If you have any interest in learning/cantoring one of these, please let me know.

We have a Baptism this week, so I made a couple of minor changes to the program. First, our Gathering Song, SS #151, 'Come to the Lord', has been replaced with Killoren's 'Hosanna, Glory'. Second, I've added SS #209, 'There is a Well', for the Sprinkling Rite.

No practice after Mass this week; however, I would like to explore the possibility of meeting once or twice a month outside of regular Masses to give us much-needed extra practice time. More on this later.

UPDATE (4/27): Jim let me know that he has something going on Saturday afternoon and may not make Mass. Jonathan has agreed to help us out just in case.
