Songs & Updates for Saturday, February 4, 2017

This Saturday is the 5th Sunday in Ordinary Time.
Thanks for another solid Mass last week!

As previously noted, Father is introducing a new Mass Setting for Lent entitled Storrington Mass (Marty Haugen). We'll be doing SS #151, Come to the Lord, as our Gathering song for the season, and GC3 #482, The Cross of Jesus, for Closing. Lent begins the first weekend in March. I'd like to schedule at least one rehearsal to learn the new Mass Setting, probably 02/17 if that works for everyone.

Songs & Updates for Saturday, January 28, 2017

This Saturday is the 4th Sunday in Ordinary Time.
Thanks for another very strong Mass last week!

We had a gentleman approach us afterward -- he made it a point to say how he really enjoys the 5:30 Mass, and gets so much more out of the liturgy because of the music :-)

Songs & Updates for Saturday, January 21, 2017

This Saturday is the 3rd Sunday in Ordinary Time.
Last week was yet another solid Mass! Tim joined us on piano, and there were only a few very minor issues. I think the Psalm, Here I Am, and closing song, Lift Up Your Hearts, were the highlights. Thanks to all who were able to be there, especially with the nasty weather!

Songs & Updates for Saturday, January 14, 2017

This Saturday is the 2nd Sunday in Ordinary Time.
Nice job last week! We had another strong night, with most everything going smoothly. No more Christmas songs for a while, though :-(

I also wanted to put out a special thanks to Lise for singing with us over the past year! Lise is our youngest member, and joined us in January, 2016. Lise's mom is taking a job out-of-state, and this was her last week singing with us.

Songs & Updates for Saturday, January 7, 2017

This Saturday is Epiphany.
Welcome to 2017, and I hope everyone had a safe and fun-filled New Year!

Mass last week was very solid, and probably our strongest in a while. It was great to end the year on a high note. Instrumentalists, I also appreciated the save at the end of Sing of Mary -- I wasn't watching closely enough, and despite my bad direction, you all managed to end the song together :-)

Father's only comment was regarding the transition between the Penitential Rite and Gloria. This took a bit longer than it should have due to the logistics of page turns, etc.. We may want to experiment with having Maggie start the song (and letting everyone else join in a few bars later), and/or making photocopies of the music.
