Songs & Updates for Saturday, December 30, 2017

This Saturday is the Feast of the Holy Family.
We did it! Christmas Eve Mass was a huge success! Once again, thanks to all who were able to sing, play and/or lend your technical skills. Despite some last-minute changes (new Parish Hall setup and Children's Program, anyone?), Mass flowed exceptionally well. The music was fun, energetic and beautiful, and I hope you all enjoyed making it! If you'd like to see how any of our songs turned out, check out a shared folder HERE with all the recordings.

I also wanted to pass along compliments from the 11 AM instrumentalists regarding Saturday Mass on 12/23. We had quite a few Sunday morning folks in attendance due to the Christmas Mass schedule. Nice job :-)

With a new year right around the corner, I'd encourage everyone to give some thought to what you'd like to see us do in 2018. In other words, what can we improve upon as a group? What are our goals for the next 12 months? Are their any songs or types of music you'd like to see us do? I have a few ideas, but would love to know your thoughts as well. Perhaps we can sit down as some point to discuss.

I know we're just coming off of Christmas, but the Lent/Easter season begins in mid-February (Ash Wednesday falls on Valentine's Day). I have no details at this point, but just a reminder that we typically cover an early afternoon Mass on Good Friday (03/30/18) and a morning Mass on Easter Sunday (04/01/18). Please try to keep those timeframes open if possible.

Stay tuned for any additional details/info on the funeral Mass for Cindy Maund (Friday, 12/29 at 11 AM). Cindy's obituary and the info we have so far went out earlier via Facebook and email.

The music for this Saturday is below. With everything going on for the holiday, I just got around to picking these tunes yesterday. If there are any changes, will let you know. The selections for January are also coming -- I'm hoping to have those sorted out later this week.

For those who weren't around for Christmas, please take a look at our Gathering song, Awake! Awake, and Greet the New Morn. The same goes for The Aye Carol -- we've done it before, but it's been a while.

As far as I know, everyone is here this week. If I don't see you, though, Happy New Year!

UPDATE: 12/29: Barb is looking for a cantor to cover the New Year's Day Mass (January 1st at 9 AM). Bev is playing piano. Please let Barb know ASAP if you're able to help with this. Thanks!
