Songs & Updates for Saturday, January 10, 2015

This Saturday is the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord.

Last Saturday, several of us didn't make it to mass due to the weather. I also canceled practice to be on the safe side, so I don't have much in the way of news this week.

The music for January has been approved with only one minor change.

On Monday night, I attended the Lenten Planning Meeting -- here are a few music highlights:

• Revised Mass of Remembrance:
• We’ll use the Penitential Rite rather than the litany ‘Hold Us in Your Mercy’ from last year.
• Eucharistic Acclamation: Save Us, Savior of the World

• Different Psalms each week per the readings.

• We will use a common Gathering and Closing song throughout the season:
• GC 381 - Dust and Ashes (Gathering)
• GC 394 - Change Our Hearts (Closing)

• Other Suggested Songs:
• GC 827 - Bread for the World (Communion)
• GC 833 - Now in this Banquet (Lenten Refrain)

• GC 741 - God is Here as We His People
• GC 593 - We Remember
• GC 389 - Return to God

Our Psalm is a repeat of the one from last week, SS 70 -- please let me know if you'd be interested in doing it.

We have one new song on the board, GC 515, Praise to You, O Christ, Our Savior. Please look it over if unfamiliar.

Maggie is out this week. There's a possibility that Karina and I won't be there as well, so stay turned for further details on what the plan is.

UPDATE (1/7): Barb let me know that Father is listing the Penitential Rite on the 9 AM mass program for this weekend, so we should be prepared to do it one more time just in case.

UPDATE (1/7): Jonathan reports that "[Last] Saturday did go well. It was me, chip, jacky, michaela and lisa. I called us "The Frozen Chosen" because we made it even with the roads being so bad. It was pretty fun!"

UPDATE (1/8): for those interested, I made a few more changes to the website, including new page dividers on the repertoire pages (which will hopefully eliminate a browser formatting issue) and added several new images to the slideshow on the sidebar.
