We stuck around after mass until around 8 PM for a bite of dinner (thanks Tom!) and worked on our prelude for the 25th, 'Increase Our Faith'. We more-or-less resurrected an arrangement we came up with back in October:
- Piano Intro
- Piano plays through the first half of the refrain once.
- Ostinato Refrain
- All voices sing the refrain once in unison.
- Ostinato Refrain (Repeated)
- Verses 1 &2
- First soloist sings verse 1; second soloist picks up on verse 2 (each line is split into two verses).
- All other voices sing ooo's and aahh's softly in the background.
- Ostinato Refrain
- All voices sing the refrain, with some breaking off into harmonies.
- Verses 3 & 4
- First soloist sings verse 1; second soloist picks up on vese 2 (each line is split into two verses).
- All other voices sing ooo's and aahh's softly in the background.

We also spent some time cleaning up the guitar parts on 'Resucitó'.
Just a quick note that at Father's request, we used the Gloria as the Sprinkling Rite last week (this was not in the program). I'm not sure if this will be repeated on Saturday, but just in case, Father blessed the Holy Water first and then we started the Gloria when he started sprinkling.
If anyone is interested in cantoring the Psalm, 'This is the Day', please make sure that you're familiar with the forth verse. In the past, we've skipped this verse, but in speaking with Father, he'd like us to use it. Also, we had some issues with the podium mic not being loud enough, so you may need to project if this is still a problem this week.
For 'Resucitó', we decided to start off the piece with an unspecified number of instrumental repeats of the refrain while the choir goes to Communion. Jim and Jonathan starting singing the refrain after that and the singers joined in as they returned from receiving.
I would like to suggest limiting the instrumental intro to two full repeats of the refrain -- this way, everyone is on the same page about the length and it allows enough time to build up the instruments before introducing voices. We'll also need to decide how to incorporate piano into the mix, and make sure everyone knows the coda.
