Our Gathering Song is one I don't believe we've done at Saturday Mass before. I'm hoping most of you are familiar with it from the Sunday Masses, but if not, please look it over before the weekend. The tempo in the recording is a bit slow for our purposes, and will need to be taken up a bit to be more appropriate for Gathering.
If anyone would be interested in cantoring the Psalm, let me know!
Nice job with 'We Are One Body' last week! Even with an abbreviated practice, it sounded quite good for a first run :-)
One thing I'd like to try this week is to start the song right at the beginning of Communion, rather than waiting until everyone goes up to receive first. I know there was some debate about this, but by not starting right away, we ended up losing a lot of time and creating a long, awkward silence. In general, I think this is something we need to avoid, even if it means doing more instrumentals to fill the gap. Even if we only have a few people at the microphones, that should be enough to kick things off. If we're short-handed, though, we can definitely reconsider this.
Also, in the interest of avoiding confusion, I asked Barb to list which verses we're using (and the order) in this week's song sheet, since the Killoren version of 'We Are One Body' rearranges the verses.
Father Charlie is here this week, but my understanding is Missionary priests will be covering/helping out with the weekend Masses.
Finally, due to the way Assumption falls on the calendar this year, there won't be any Anticipated or Holy Day Masses to celebrate this.
