We haven't done 'Mountain of God', our Gathering song, in quite a while. If you're not familiar with this tune, but please look it over.
As always, if you'd like to cantor the Psalm, let me know. Note we'll be using the regular Gathering/Closing version of 'All the Ends of the Earth', rather than the dedicated Psalm. We've done this before and it usually works well.
I liked how 'We Are One Body' turned out last week. Starting it at the beginning of Communion with a small group of musicians allowed us to get through the entire song. Thanks for bearing with me on this, and let's plan to do the same thing this week (again, unless we're short-handed and it doesn't make sense).
If you have any song suggestions for September (or general feedback on 'the state of the choir'), please feel free to let me know. As you may have noticed, I've tried to focus more heavily on fun, more upbeat tunes this month at the request of one of our musicians. Obviously, I can't do this all the time, but I'm hoping this change has been a step in the right direction.
As we approach September (where did the summer go?!), I'd also like to experiment with a cantor rotation and the possibility of holding perhaps a couple of extra practices each month outside of Saturday nights to focus on specific songs. More on this later.

Jim, Maggie and Jonathan will be tied up next Saturday, 8/27, for their band's ('Group Therapy') debut concert. I had a chance to hear them play last weekend and they have some really good stuff going on, so definitely check this out if you have a chance!
